Staff Accountant

TempCFO is looking for an organized, confident, and professional individual to join our team. We seek a staff accountant with 4 to 5 years of experience. The candidate must be able to take ownership of tasks given and demonstrate accountability.
Summary of Position:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various activities relating to the daily functions of our clients’ accounting needs and other various tasks. The person in this position reports directly to three partners.
Staff Accountant’s Responsibilities:
- Take on daily activities to maintain accounting records for various clients, including but not limited to A/R, A/P, payroll entry, adjusting journal entries, check runs, etc.
- Has firm knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in preparing accounting reports.
- Assist in month-end close activities, including bank and other account reconciliations.
- Assist in a wide-range of business needs for our clients, including setting up insurances, monitoring and updating budgets, corresponding with client, vendors, customers and banks.
- Take responsibility for clearing open items and meeting client and internal deadlines.
- Maintain client files including filing of invoices and/or payments.
- Prepare individual, corporate, s-corporation, and partnership tax returns.
- Preparing tax research documents when needed
- Prepare basic written correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting required.
- 4-5 years experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Experience with QuickBooks a must and Lacerte a plus.
- Professional attitude and a team player mentality necessary.

Accounting Senior Manager / Controller

The Senior Manager will be responsible for various activities relating to the daily functions of our clients' accounting needs and other various tasks.
Responsibilities:
- The position is highly visible and interfaces with a variety of clients, therefore requiring strong leadership and strategic planning skills, and the ability to communicate with client personnel, board members, and outside funding agencies
- Manage and perform the day-to-day accounting operations related to general ledger accounting, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll and commission calculations for a variety of clients
- Produce and/or review journal entries, supporting schedules and reports
- Responsible for managing the monthly close process for a variety of clients, including account analysis and cash flow management
- Development, reporting, and variance analysis of budgets
- Documenting accounting processes and help drive effort to evaluate, document internal controls of clients
- Ensure that the accounting treatment and recording of transactions is appropriate and conforms to GAAP
- Other projects assigned on an ad hoc basis
Qualifications and Attributes:
- CPA and Bachelors degree in accounting is required, MBA is a plus
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience
- 3 plus years of managing accounting personnel desired
- Experience with Quickbooks required
- Excellent Excel, Word and Outlook skills are required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB, Revenue Recognition, 123R

Senior Tax Associate

We provide full tax preparation and planning services to our client companies and their principals.
TempCFO is looking for a Senior Tax Associate to join our team. We seek a Tax associate with 4 to 5 years of public accounting experience, excellent communication skills, as well as a completed CPA license or in process of completing the license.
Summary of Position:
The Senior Tax Associate will be responsible for performing various activities relating to the tax needs of our clients. You must be able to assist in not only tax compliance, but tax consulting as well.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare complex corporate, individual, partnership and S-corporation returns including foreign reporting forms
- Prepare sales and use tax, property tax and other returns
- Identify key issues related to return preparation
- Review own work and show evidence in work papers
- Perform complex research and effectively communicate conclusions
- Ability to formulate planning alternatives and suggest options
- Work directly with some clients to provide excellent client service by handling routine tax questions as well as collecting the necessary information to complete their tax returns
- Other tasks and projects assigned on an ad hoc basis
- The position will initially report to one tax director and soon after supervise one staff accountant and ensure that a quality end product is produced. Establish regular goals, review performance and maintain morale
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in accounting is required, a CPA is preferred or be in the process of obtaining licensure
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of public accounting experience with progressive responsibilities, preparing corporate, individual, partnership and other returns
- 1 plus years of managing tax staff desired
- Must be detail-oriented, extremely organized, and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research, writing and analytical skills
- Excellent Excel, Word and Outlook skills are required
- Technically proficient in tax software, Lacerte preferred
- A hands-on, team oriented attitude
- Excellent references and work history
